Varzob

Varzob, (taj. Varzob; within Dushanbe – Dushanbink), – a river in the south-west of Tajikistan, the right tributary of the Kafirnigan river. Length – 71 km, pool – 1740 km².

The river’s waters are used to irrigate a few farms located along the river, Varzob is also the main waterway of the capital of Tajikistan – the city of Dushanbe, located in the south. Also, along the river there is a cascade of hydroelectric power stations, the largest of which is Varzobskaya HPP-1 (Verkhne-Varzobskaya).
Along the river, in the gorge of the same name, there are numerous recreation areas, at 40 km there is the summer Presidential Residence – Puguz. There are also underground hot springs in the Varzob gorge in the sanatorium of Khoja Obigarm, where you can take rhodon baths that treat many diseases such as rheumatoid nature.
12 kilometers from Dushanbe, Varzob Lake is located – an artificial reservoir created specifically for the recreation of citizens.
Small crustaceans are found in the waters of the river, as well as small fish – marinkas and gobies. Also in the waters of Varzob river trout is found.
The river’s waters are used as drinking water for the population of Dushanbe.
